I read you visited the Thi Nghe (Phu My) orphanage in Ho Chi Minh in Janury 2010
In that period (from december 2009 to december 2010) my baby girl was there … and she had our family photo in her crib. But for burocracy …. we adopted her only in January 2011….
I’m looking for her pictures before our arrival … can you help me ???

This is a price we pay for modernity, I think. Cambodians, for example, would have been much more likely to stop and listen, especially those from the villages and farms. They are used to attending to the moment rather than to the future. As the country modernizes Cambodians too will lose this capacity and, like us, will participate ever more virtually with reality. This is one of the most valuable personal rewards of volunteering in a traditional culture – what that culture teaches the volunteer.

I like these 3 missives to “Hackers.” You put a very positive spin on what is a serious headache for many of us. Maybe you have inspired someone to make better use of their time. Health Risk Education Games are another useful category. I brought the UndercoverUXO game for the XO Laptop to SE Asia recently. Through repetition and by using local scenery and warning signs of land mines, It teaches children to avoid unexploded ordinance in their environments.

Yes hackers, please do something useful with your time! Happy New Year!

Hi, I have just been to Vietnam last week and visited the home twice. If you are interested I can add you to my friends list to receive updates about the home, changes in the girls there etc. I see you were concerned about some girls leaving. There is usually a good reason, eg some family members want the girls home so I can fill you in on these if you like.

I’d be wary of WikiMapia, and as a contributor to OpenStreetMap, recommend that be used instead.

You probably know the aphorism of “free as in beer, or free as in speech?” Even though WikiMapia distributes data under a Creative Commons license (it’s worth noting, it’s the Non-Commercial variant, so its data is incompatible with Wikipedia and other free culture projects), it’s an open question whether its data is “free as in speech”. There’s a lot of evidence that it isn’t.

Let’s ignore that in the past, contributions to WikiMapia were under a proprietary, WikiMapia-owns everything license, and WikiMapia can change licensing again on a whim. WikiMapia uses satellite imagery from Google Maps, (presumably) without being licensed to do so. Tracing imagery, in some jurisdictions (the UK is one of them) is considered creating a derivative work under copyright law.

Google, so far, has not cared that people have been creating derivative works without explicit permission. However, the companies that supply Google (e.g. Digital Global, Europa Technologies, etc), do—they have extremely strict and comprehensive licensing policies concerning the creation of derivative data. Without the proper legal framework in place, WikiMapia’s data is a huge mass of copyright violations, just waiting for a lawsuit.

OpenStreetMap, unlike WikiMapia, has strict rules on the ownership of data imported into it. It’s the largest “free as in speech” mapping and geodata project. If you’re going to be doing original mapping (like adding your favorite restaurant, mapping a neighborhood, etc) consider contributing to it instead of WikiMapia.

This note is a hate blog from Mr. Timothy Andrews and Douglas Blackwell of Bio Partner UK, due to the fact that I cancelled my business relationship with them because they were involved with drugs and other unsavoury activities.

They also raised millions of US $ from the UK public apparently for our business plan to grow Bio Fuel Feed stock in Africa and they stole the majority of the funds and only transferred less than 10% of the funds raised for the farms. The Financial Services Board in the UK has shut them down and now they are trying to discredit my name in the Bio Fuel Industry.

I have developed the best farming returns from Bio Fuel Feed Stock farming in the world and they are very jealous that I removed them from my business due to their drugs etc. What other spend $5 million to plant I spend 20% thereof and also get 1000 TIMES more plants.

There is a warren of arrest against them in South Arica due to the destruction of property and drugs at my home in Kloof SA and this has been transferred to INTERPOL..

Joe is a false name it is actually TIMOTHY ANDREWS with DOUGLAS BLACKWELL of BIO PARTNERS who have posted this nonsense, it is untrue and deformation.
The other companies involved with these guys are ANGLO AFRICAN FARMS, ZAMBIA ALPHA ONE AND OTHER RELATED COMPANIES.

I have not been deported from Zambia this is a lie.

I have shareholders with the names mentioned and they are very happy with me and what we are doing.

the information that Timothy Andrews has posted is wonderful proof that he broke into my office and stole this confidential information.

Shoe is Andrews in disgusie.

Ken Scott is the Homosexual which we were very concerned about getting involved with young boys in our community in Zambia and he is unhappy with his time with us as a result and is lying about what has happend with his time with us.

He is repeating lies from Shoe = Andrews whom we have a warrant of arrest against and we have now transferred it to interpol.

Now we will do the same with this guy Ken Scott who has spread lies without cjecking the truth and thus creating deformation against Peter Mc Hendry and Global Adventures.

We do not want homosexuals who want sex with young boys in our communities so Scott you are now in trouble and we will do everything in our power to seek you and bring you to book for your lies.
